The historic North is the most popular tourism place of Ethiopia. You will visit fabulous sites such as the amazing palaces in Gondar built in 17th century, the granite stele of Axum and also the rock hewn churches of Lalibela (one the Eight Wonders of the World) or of Tigray around Gerhalta.
This 10-day tour of Ethiopia begins in Addis Ababa, exploring landmarks like the Trinity Cathedral and the National Museum. A flight to Mekele follows, with visits to Tigrayan rock-hewn churches on the way to Gheralta. After exploring more ancient churches, the journey continues to Axum to visit historical sites, including the Queen of Sheba's palace and the Church of Our Lady of Zion. From Axum, travel to Gondar, passing scenic landscapes and the Tekeze gorges. In Gondar, explore royal palaces and the Debre Birhan Selassie Church before heading to Bahir Dar. Here, visit the Blue Nile Falls and take a boat excursion on Lake Tana to see ancient monasteries. A flight to Lalibela reveals the famous rock-hewn churches, a UNESCO Heritage site. The tour concludes back in Addis Ababa with shopping and a traditional farewell dinner.
An incredible journey through Ethiopia's rich past! The rock-hewn churches and ancient sites left us in awe. Highly recommended!
