You will have the possibility to climb one of the highest peaks of Simien National Park : the Bwahit Mountain (4 430m). You will also discover the escarpments of Sankaber, Geech, Misma, Chenek. You will have the possibility to share friendly moments with the local community and witness their culture and their way of life. This short trip will give a wonderful mountain trekking opportunity for those who seek a unique trekking experience in the North Mountains of Ethiopia. You will be accompanied by a cook who will prepare all meals. Some mules will escort you to ensure the transportation of all luggage and equipment. You will visit the historical town of Gondar called The Camelot of Africa.
The trek in the Simien Mountains is an incredible adventure that combines stunning landscapes, immersion in Ethiopian culture, and unforgettable moments in the heart of wild nature. Upon arrival in Addis Ababa, you will be transferred to your hotel, where, depending on your arrival time, you may have the chance to explore the city. Visits will include iconic spots such as the archaeological museum, ethnological museum, the Mercato market, and the Entoto Mountains, which offer a breathtaking view of the capital. The following day, you'll take a morning flight to Gondar, then drive from Gondar to Sankaber, located at 3,236 meters above sea level, to start your adventure in the Simien Mountains. You'll spend the night camping in Sankaber, the starting point of the trek. The following days will be dedicated to hiking through the stunning mountains, with stages like the ascent from Sankaber to Geech, and then from Geech to Chenek, passing through breathtaking landscapes and impressive viewpoints. You'll also take an excursion to Bwahit, where you'll witness even more magnificent panoramas. The trek will lead you through new paths connecting various camps, each offering a different view of the mountain range. After several days of hiking, you’ll conclude the trek with a visit to the historic city of Gondar, where you'll discover the famous Royal Compound. The adventure will end in Addis Ababa, where you'll have the chance to shop and enjoy a farewell dinner with traditional Ethiopian dances and dishes, before heading to the airport for your departure.
